This is one of those quotes that keep me going when times get tough. It’s not only encouraging, but inspirational. I certainly don’t consider myself a quitter, but I will admit that there have been times in my life, when I have given up or quit. Thankfully, it has not been very often.
We all know that being a quitter is not a term that we would want others to associate us with, but as I was thinking back about the few times I did quit, I realized that I also received criticism at times for NOT quitting. Has that ever happened to you?
My Mom use to say that I was hard headed because I was so stubborn and refused to quit things at the expense of looking foolish, and quite frankly, I was. For example, if I were playing a game against an opponent that was clearly superior that was annihilating me, I would continue playing even though for all intents and purposes, the game was over. Have you ever done that? I’ll bet there are some of you reading this that have. 🙂
But getting back to the quote, if we can keep this in mind when things do get difficult, I’m sure it can give us a second wind (so to speak), a reason to keep going. It reminds me of a few other sayings like “it’s always darkest before the dawn” and “when the going gets rough, the tough get going.” There was also a popular book years ago by Dr. Robert Schuller that was titled “Tough Times Never Last, But Tough People Do.”
So the next time you realize just how difficult things have become for you, just smile and get ready for Victory!
